HOCKEY LEARN TO SKATE

WELCOME! The Ice Chalet is proud to present our 2010-11 Hockey Learn To Skate Program.

Summer Session: June 29 - August 19
Fall Session: August 31 - October 21
Fall II Session: October 26 - December 16
2011 Winter Session: January 4 - February 24

This program is designed to provide a gradual learning environment for an enjoyable introduction and experience in ice hockey. Our philosophy is to provide the students with the skills appropriate for their age level and our goal is for them to have FUN!

COPPER Level: No skating experience, this is the place for you! Build confidence and have fun while gaining skills.

BRONZE Level: Learn C-cuts, forward skating, backward skating, stopping and crossovers.

SILVER Level: Learn advanced Bronze hockey skills plus hockey stops, pivots, stick handling and shooting. (Helmet with cage, gloves & stick required)

Helmets required for skaters 7 yrs and under

Classes offered Tuesday or Thursday 5:00-5:30 pm
Cost $100.00
Trial Class Available - $15.00 fee (recommend to younger inexperienced skaters who are unsure of skating)
Classes must meet minimum enrollment for level to be offered

Program Includes:

30 minute Group Lesson with experienced instructor - skate rental included
8 FREE Public Passes designed to encourage student to practice during the public skating sessions (skate rental included for student) - NOTE: Passes may be used for a friend or family member as well but skate rental not included ($3 rental fee)
2 Make-Up Classes per session - Student must wear their badge (receive on first day of classes) each time they come to class for check-in

MINI MITE/INITIATION

Designed for players 10 years and under - Ice Chalet introduces the Mini-Mite/Initiation program to make your child's first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience.

2010/2011 SCHEDULE

Fall Session - September 5-October 24 (8 wks) = $160
Fall II Session - October 31-December 19 (8 wks) = $160
Winter 2011 Session - January 9-February 27 (8 wks) = $160
Spring Session - March 6-April 17 ( 7 wks) = $140
Spring II Session - May 1-June 26 (8wks) = $160

FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED -

Initiation program sessions run 8 weeks - Practices are held on Sundays 8:00-9:20am and will run the students through approximately 50 minutes of instruction and skills drills followed by about 30 minutes of scrimmage.

The Mini-Mite/Initiation Program is the second step in the Ice Chalet Hockey Development Model. The program is designed to make your child’s first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience. It is a structured, learn to play hockey program designed to introduce beginners to the basic skills of hockey. It enables participants to become contributing members of a team and experience a sense of personal achievement. These goals are achieved in an atmosphere of cooperation and fun.

The future of this sport lies within our youth. We play an important role in helping beginner hockey players to develop responsible playing attitudes. A well run Mini-Mite/Initiation program will foster enjoyment of hockey to our young players and ensure the growth of hockey.

The Initiation program lesson plans have proven successful on every type of community setting.

Each session consists of 8 lesson plans that follow a defined path of progression. As players move through the program, they improve on both hockey skills and self-confidence. Players participate in practice drills, informal and modified games and are soon proficient enough to join one of the Ice Chalet youth hockey leagues.
